Several well-known developers are having their privileges stripped from them.
Before now, Netflix, Spotify and even Tinder were exempted from paying a 30% tax on Google’s in-app payments.
Google said it had revoked those privileges, and these developers will now have to pay.
Google’s VP for Production Management, Samat Sameer, on Monday, explained why this is now necessary for these developers.
In his statement, he said this message is coming for clarity.
Developers need to be aware of the billing policies that Google is putting in place now.

To hasten the process, Google has given these developers a deadline.
By the 30th of September 2021, these developers should have done a review of the system.
They need to adjust their payment system to fit Google’s billing system.
They have just about a year to get this done, which is enough time to meet the guidelines.

So in case, you thought this is unfair treatment, be aware, there’s no bias.
Google’s motivation to make this decision may be stirred from Apple.
The development came shortly after a dispute between Apple and developers over a similar issue.
The dispute caused some apps such as Spotify and Epic Games, amongst others, to form an alliance.
They called it The Coalition For App Fairness.

In the midst of all this, Google still has your best interest at heart.
As you may be aware, Google is not as strict as iOS and Apple.
A lot of iOS software’s are only available if you use an iOS device/iPhone.
But Google is quite different. And to add to this, they’re working on something new.
Also, Google is trying to put a development in place whereby you can get Google apps anywhere at all, without having to go to the Play Store.
Wouldn’t that be extraordinary?
According to Google’s VP, this will be possible when the official Android 12 is released, next year.
Slight glitch?
Regardless of the semi-positive news, there’s still a slight glitch.
Google’s VP mentioned that developers would be unable to inform users on how to avoid the 30% tax policy.
Additionally, developers questioned if there’s a way to communicate with their users.
They also had concerns about alternative payment methods.
In response to the concerns of the developers, there’s no limitation to communicate with users.
