The role of technology in keeping people and businesses connected received a major boost during the COVID-19 pandemic as the resulting lockdown forced corporate organisations to see the need to adopt telecommunication system for coordination of business activities.

Moreover, in this article we will discuss seven tech skills that will be in high demand from 2023 upwards.

Cybersecurity

One of the challenges faced by government agencies and business organisations across sectors in the world is attack on their computer networks and systems, leading to data breaches or loss which costs billions of dollars.

According to a report on cybercrime by AAG IT Services, data breaches cost businesses an average of $4.35 million in 2022.

Also a report by The Guardian newspaper shows that cyber crimes like phishing and scams hit 174 per cent in Nigeria in the first six months of 2022.

This ugly trend has forced different organisations to invest in cybersecurity, which is the practice of protecting computer systems, network, and electronic devices from theft, damage and unauthorized access or hacking.

This development has led to increase in demand for cybersecurity experts by organisations.

Some Cybersecurity jobs include cybersecurity analyst, systems engineer/network engineer, and software developer.

Cybersecurity professionals are required to have knowledge of operating systems, network protocols, and programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, among others.

Also, they are equally required to be abreast of latest threats and techniques used by cyber threat actors.

This requires knowing how to use intrusion detection software (security information and event management (SIEM) products, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and intrusion prevention systems (IPS) that enables one to quickly identify suspicious activity or security violations.
