Apple Faces Two EU Probes Against Rivalry

Spread the love

Apple faces two probes from the European Commission as to whether it has breached competition rules.

One iPad and iPhone research center is limited to installing apps from Apple’s own App Store, among many other limitations on third-party developers.

Another one includes Apple Pay.

One problem being that other services cannot use the iPhone’s tap-and-go facility.

Apple said the EU was “trying to mislead” the public.

It said EU claims it is “advancing grievances without a basis.”

And it blamed corporations that had criticized it of desiring a “free ride.”

“Our goal is simple:

“for our customers to have access to the best app or service of their choice, in a safe and secure environment.”

Apple is experiencing intense scrutiny in America.

The scrutiny by the House Judiciary Committee has demanded for its chief executive, Tim Cook appear before it.

It said Cook will appear to show himself together with other technocrats to give responses about anti-trust concerns.

Amazon has also said that its chief executive Jeff Bezos would also be present.

He will testify so long as Mr Cook and his counterparts at Facebook and Google also provide evidence.

The newest development comes days before Apple holds its annual developers conference.
