Africa’s leading tech-driven delivery company, GIG Logistic (GIIGL) in a new discovery has opened its fourth office in the United Kingdom.
The new office marks another major expansion for the delivery company beyond the shores of Africa, and second to the United States.
With the latest expansion, GIGL wants to make shipping a lot easier for Nigerians by leveraging its expertise in technology and prior knowledge of the logistic space.
To achieve this, GIGL has integrated a number of UK-based stores on the mobile app, allowing users to shop from their favourite retailers and get their shopped items delivered at an affordable rate.
Commenting on the latest development, the Director, Oversea Operation at GIGL, Ariyo Oluboye informed that the company is aiming to eliminate cross-border delivery barriers.
“Opening in the UK aligns with our drive to be that African brand playing in the global space. We are on a mission to power centralized and decentralized commerce by creating a platform for African merchants to ship across continents,” Ariyo said.

While the UK expansion is only just kicking off, Ariyo also hinted of a further expansion into the Asian region, although refrained from giving specific details about what appears to be an ongoing plan.
“Decentralized and centralized commerce can only thrive with efficient last-mile delivery “
Unlike other traditional delivery company, GIGL prides itself on the fact that it focuses on a niche segment which is quite unconventional.
“Decentralized and centralized commerce can only thrive with efficient last-mile delivery and this is an area we are providing innovative solutions for with our services.
“We are basically leveraging technology to simplify the movement of goods across continents”, he added.
In doing this, Ariyo confirmed that the company’s new team will leverage the technology and experience that have been acquired while operating in other markets to ensure smooth operation.
“Our operation in the UK is going to be completely e-driven. All of this, coupled with our expansive route network in Nigeria and in-depth understanding of the local environment is will be of advantage to us for incoming and outgoing shipping between both countries,” Ariyo added.
Also, while the expansion into the UK marks another milestone for the company, it is also found to be a very strategic movement in general.

Based on our discovery, the UK is reckoned to be a manufacturing powerhouse and more interestingly, boast of a mixed economy that is the fifth-largest in the world in terms of market exchange rates and the sixth largest by purchasing power parity (PPP).
The UK economy is also considered to be one of the largest in Europe, second to only Germany. Moving into the region will also mean tapping into the enormous economic opportunities therein.
