Moniepoint, a leading African fintech company providing business banking services, has launched the third edition of its “Women in Tech” internship program. The initiative aims to empower young African women and prepare them for successful careers in the technology industry.

The program started with a celebratory “Tech Dreams, Activated” event held at The House in Victoria Island, Lagos. The event brought together a dynamic group of women in tech, including Adora Nwodo and Chisom Nwokwu from Microsoft, and Zulumoke Oyibo, co-founder of Inkblot Productions.

Through career talks, interactive activities, and engaging games, the event fostered a sense of camaraderie and provided valuable insights into building a career in tech as a woman. The atmosphere was vibrant and encouraging, equipping the new interns with the knowledge and inspiration to embark on their tech journey.

Since its inception in 2021, Moniepoint’s Women in Tech internship has welcomed five women annually to work on the company’s products in real-time, tackling impactful projects and creating solutions to improve the experiences of over a million businesses in emerging markets.

This year, five talented women have been selected for System Administration, Quality Assurance, Frontend Engineering, and Product Management roles. Throughout the six-month internship, they will receive direct mentorship, a competitive salary, work tools, company merchandise, and the opportunity to work on live projects.

Chinaza Nduka-Dike, Head of People Operations at Moniepoint, emphasized the company’s commitment to building the tech talent pipeline across Africa and creating pathways for full-time careers in the industry. “Apart from just providing entry points, consciously creating a system that encourages women to stay in these roles is necessary. This is where the Moniepoint Women-In-Tech internship stands out,” she said.

Previous interns have transitioned into full-time roles within Moniepoint’s Engineering team and other markets across Africa, exemplifying the program’s success in nurturing and retaining female tech talent.
