It’s beautiful but somewhat creepy. If we didn’t know any better, we’d have concluded that an alien ship had landed in Singapore.
But thank heavens! We do. So, we can appreciate this stroke of genius.
Apple has always been big on aesthetics. But we weren’t expecting such a pricey design.
Especially not at a time like this. There’s the pandemic on the one hand and an ongoing scuffle with Fortnite, on the other hand.
However, considering that Apple recently became the first US Company to surpass the $2 trillion valuation mark, building a pricey orb like this couldn’t have been a problem.
It looks like an art festival is coming up soon, as everyone seems to be adding some artistic touch to their assets.
Google recently coloured its map, and now, Apple is leaving us with this outlandish orb design – settled in front of the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore.
Apple already has two stores in Singapore – one at Orchard Road, and the other at the Jewel Changi Airport.
This store will be Apple’s third in Singapore but the first to hold a record. The store currently holds the record for the first store in the globe to float on water.
The breathtaking view
If you think that the new store’s daytime view is stunning, wait till you see it at night.
As soon as the sun goes down and the lights from the city’s skyscrapers light up the background, you’ll see the awe-inspiring masterwork in all of its glory.
The orb emits several bursts of colours at night. The prominent colour is blue but in different shades.
The apple logo is embossed on the orb, and it releases an orange glow at night. The orb’s glow reflects on the boardwalks built around it and leaves a rainbow gradient fill on it.
By the Bay (way), the new store is not yet open to customers. However, Apple, through a teaser video, has announced that it will be open soon.

In a publication by 9to5Mac, Apple’s new store was referred to as the “lantern on the bay.”
According to the report, the orb is said to look like traditional lanterns carried during Singapore’s Mid-Autumn Festival.
Reportedly, Apple will be adopting the same safety measures applied in its other branches when the store opens.
These measures include; limited occupancy, sanitization, and the wearing of masks.
