Twitter CEO, Elon Musk has said that starting from April 15, only verified accounts can vote in Twitter polls.
Musk said this is part of measures to curb the widespread interference of bots on Twitter conversations.
Recently, the advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI has led to many aspects of our daily lives being questioned critically.
Social media polls is not out of it.
To curb the swam of AI bots, Elon Musk is introducing this measures.
According to Elon Musk, “Starting April 15th, only verified accounts will be eligible to be in For You recommendations.”

Musk added, “[This] is the only realistic way to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over. It is otherwise a hopeless losing battle. Voting in polls will require verification for same reason.”

Meanwhile, the Twitter CEO also noted that only verified accounts will be eligible to be in Twitter’s For You recommendations.
Twitter’s For You Recommendation is a feature of the social media app that displays a stream of tweets from accounts on Twitter.
The contents displayed are those from accounts people follow as well as recommended tweets.
So, Musk is saying only tweets from paid subscribers will be recommended by the algorithm to other users.
Recall that last year, Musk had said that only Twitter Blue subscribers will be eligible to vote in policy-related polls.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk has said regardless of the restriction, that bot accounts that are verified and follows Twitter’s terms of service and don’t impersonate a human can enjoy the benefits.

Twitter Blue Subscription:
Twitter Blue costs $11/month to users that subscribe as an in-app purchase on their phones. However, the subscription is reduced to $7/month if users sign up on the web.
Last week, Twitter announced that on April 1st they would “begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks.”
They invited users with blue checkmarks to sign up for Twitter Blue to keep their badge, otherwise, they would lose it.
