Apple has refused to allow Microsoft’s Game Pass, Facebook’s gaming app, and Google’s Stadia on its App Store. In turn, the companies in question have refused to submit individual copies of the game for Apple’s review.
So, you see where the problem is? On our part, we find it a bit odd that major technology giants are running afoul of Apple’s rules.
Apple has already made it known that before any application is allowed on its App Store, said application must go through a series of approvals.
Technically speaking, if an app doesn’t meet or violates any of Apple’s guidelines, then it will not be allowed on the App Store.
What you need to know
We know what you’re thinking. Facebook, Google, and Microsoft – how can these guys possibly violate tech guidelines when they’re tech giants themselves?!
Apple is committed to making the App Store a safe and secure place for their users. And apps that don’t pass their rigorous review process are not allowed on the platform.

According to the company’s representative, “The App Store was created to be a safe and trusted place for customers to discover and download apps, and a great business opportunity for all developers.
“Before they go on our store, all apps are reviewed against the same set of guidelines that are intended to protect customers and provide a fair and level playing field to developers.”
In Apple’s statement, they also made it known that they have developers and gaming services that launch on their platform every time. However, for services like Netflix and Spotify, the approval process is quite different.
They do not go through the same screening as gaming applications.
What is the difference?
The approval process is different because gaming apps are much more interactive platforms than music and film apps.
One thing you need to know about gaming apps is that they are built or developed to match gamers’ expectations. And if the game’s features don’t tally with users’ expectations, then there is going to be a problem.
Facebook, Microsoft, and Google aren’t comfortable with the decision that Apple has made. In fact, the COO of Facebook made some harsh remarks towards Apple in a statement.
Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer, said, “Unfortunately, we had to remove gameplay functionality entirely to get Apple’s approval on the standalone Facebook Gaming app.”
