The popular third-party app, Vanced, would be shutting down after a legal threat from Google.
It would discontinue its service and shut down its project in the coming days.
Download link for the app would be removed, but it would continue to work for those who have already downloaded it on their Android.
Although, it would stop working at some points due to a lack of future updates from the company.
In a statement by the company, Vanced would discontinue service “due to legal reasons.”
However, all this is coming after Google sent a cease and desist letter to Vanced.
This then led the developers to stop distributing and developing the app.
Also, they removed all YouTube related links on their platform and its logo.
Vanced to help block video ads on YouTube
Android users have been using the Vanced platform, a third-party YouTube app.
They used it to block video ads on YouTube.
On YouTube, users needed to have a premium subscription to block video ads on YouTube.
Asides from other services, the Vanced app offers was a customisable page for customers, and a black theme in YouTube doesn’t originally offer to YouTube for Android app.

Vanced comment on the discontinuation
On its Telegram app, the company owner writes a comment for the public.
“DISCONTINUATION OF THE VANCED PROJECT
Vanced has been discontinued. In the coming days, the download links will be taken down. The Discord server, Telegram chat and subreddit will stay for the time being. We know this is not something you wanted to hear, but it’s something we had to do. We want to thank you all for the support over the years.
Edit (1): The existing version will continue to work.
Edit (2): It was done due to legal reasons.
Also, Vanced had mentioned that although t’s not what users want to hear, it’s something they need to do.
Google’s action against third-party apps
This is not the first third-party app that Google asked to discontinue related service.
Last year, it had forced two popular Discord music bots off its platform.
Discord music bots also stopped video ads from showing o the platform, allowing users to listen to music without ads.
Google hasn’t commented on these claims by Vanced; with the past happening, it might be true.
