iOS 17 Launch: Compatible iPhones, Hardware Expected At Apple's WWDC 2023 Today

iOS 17  is the latest operating system that technology company, Apple would be unveiling today at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC )2023.

Meanwhile, in this report, you will see iPhone brands that are compatible with the new operating system. Also, you will find hardware that Apple is going to unveil today.

The Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off today, Monday 5th of June, 2023 at its Cupertino, California, campus.

Apple will be introducing the iOS 17 and several other hardware such as a mixed reality headsets that allow users enjoy both virtual reality and augmented reality (VR & AR) features.

Also, Apple is going to announce many other goodies such as relating to its devices, operating system, AI, Cybersecurity and music and other gadgets.

iOS 17:

Apple will announce the launch of the iOS 17. This operating system will give users more access to do cool and upgraded stuff across all apple offerings.

For instance, the iOS 17 will allow app sideloading.

Are you wondering what that means? I mean, what app sideloading means? Well, let’s look into what that means briefly.

What is App sideloading?

App Sideloading is the process of installing applications on a device without using approved distribution channels. Examples of distribution channels include App Store, Google Play or Microsoft Store.

App sideloading allows users the access to more applications than they would have gotten by default.  So, for instance, your mobile phones come with default applications and usually would not allow you to alter them or even add apps from sources it deems incompatible. However, with app sideloading, you can add incompatible apps on your phone and make use of them.

On Android devices, sideloading is simpler as it could just be a simple task of just checking a box in the device’s settings.

For Apple’s devices, it is not that simple. On Apple Devices, you would need to modify (jailbreak) the device before you can sideload using either third party apps or other special tools.

Meanwhile, keep in mind that with the benefits also comes the risks.

So, as good as this may sounds, the risks sometimes, according to experts, outweighs the benefits!

For instance, on Apple devices, the iOS sideloading is done with the expectations that Apple will not revoke the developer’s certificate. Also, it may come with restrictive timeframe or cost.

Also, sideloaded apps are not approved and not properly vetted so, you stand a huge security risks.

Other cools possibilities with iOS 17 include health tracking abilities that allows users monitor a user’s mood and also keep tabs on how their vision may change over time.

The operating system will also support Apple’s  journaling app that allows a users to log their thought and also monitor how much time they have spent outside home.

According to CNN Business, the new iOS 17 is also said to get a lock screen refresh: When positioned in horizontal mode, the display will highlight widgets tied to the calendar, weather and other apps, serving as a digital hub. (iPadOS 17 is also expected to get some of the same lock screen capabilities and health features.)

Mixed Reality’ Headset:

Apple will be announcing a mixed reality headset that allows users enjoy both Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) features at the same time.

This would likely be Apple’s biggest announcements in its bid to carve out a huge niche in the AI industry.

Apple may call the new mixed reality headset, according to Bloomberg, Reality One or Reality Pro.

The headset will have an iOS-like interface, display immersive video and also have cameras and sensors to allow users to control it via their hands, eye movements and with Siri.

The device is also rumored to have an outward-facing display that will show eye movements and facial expressions, allowing onlookers to interact with the person wearing the headset without feeling as though they’re talking to a robot.

According to CNN, “Apple’s new headset is expected to pack apps for gaming, fitness and meditation, and offer access to iOS apps such as Messages, FaceTime and Safari, according to Bloomberg.

“With the FaceTime option, for example, the headset will ‘render a user’s face and full body in virtual reality,’ to create the feeling that both are ‘in the same room.’”

Reports say Apple might likely peg the reality headset at a $3,000 price tag.
