Africa Blockchain Institute (ABI), a pan-African institute with the aim of educating and nurturing African blockchain developers, is hosting an Incubation Program to help African Blockchain Startups find their feet in the ecosystem.

Blockchain education for African Web3 creators in particularly important as the blockchain ecosystem in Africa has grown exponentially yet, is in great need of developers.

With its headquarters in Kigali, Rwanda, the Africa Blockchain Institute is redefining the blockchain education and creating avenues for African developers to hone their skills and make more money.

Why the program:

The blockchain technology is integral to the fourth Industrial revolution and the African continent has witnessed tremendous adoption of the technology.

Among areas of adoption are the Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTS), crypto and the metaverse. These wide adoption has created a great need for education into the web3 as self-teaching is very difficult.

Therefore, according to the institute’s Executive Director, Kayode Babarinder, the program is aimed at promoting blockchain technology adoption in Africa.

It also aims at promoting blockchain technology’s development and use within Africa’s ecosystem.

According to the started this institution to give a guiding hand to others who also seek to understand blockchain technology.

Application Deadlines:

Registration for the ABI has since commenced and is ongoing.

Closing Date: The window for registration closes on the 31st of January, 2023.

Timeline of the Program:

  • Applications Open: December 2022- the 31st of January 2023
  • Selection and Notification 1st – 28th February 2023
  • Incubation Program (Virtual): 1st March 2023 – 16th June 2023
  • Demo DAY (In-Persin at Kigali, Rwanda): June 2023
  • Post-Incubation: July 2023.

Eligibility Criteria For Joining the program:

According to ABI, the following eligibility criteria exist for the program:

  •  Priorities are given to Female Applications
  •  Must be between 20 – 35 years of age
  •  Strong business case and market potential
  •  Both idea-stage and early-stage (1 year) companies are encouraged to apply.
