She Code Africa Partners Bolt To Empower Women In Tech

She Code Africa, a non-profit organisation that equips, trains and empowers young girls and women in technology across Africa, is partnering with ride hailing company, Bolt to further empower women in tech.

A statement by the founder, Ada Nduka Oyom, says She code Africa is partnering with Bolt “to actively work towards a more inclusive and diverse future” for women in tech.

According to her, women only hold 26.7% of tech jobs going by a 2022 data.

She said this is hugely an imbalance that needs to be evened.

The Partnership:

According to Ada, Bolt understands the need for gender diversity hence, the company has partnered She
Code Africa to train women in tech.

The partnership will also see Bolt train She ‘Codians’ in tech to be even more relevant in the tech-driven world.

The training would be for women in Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa.

According to her, “We have some amazing news to share with you! She Code Africa is partnering with Bolt to empower women in the tech industry!

“Did you know that as of 2022, women only held 26.7% of technology jobs? This is a huge imbalance that we are determined to rectify!

“At She Code Africa, we strongly believe in the potential of strong, ambitious women in tech.

“That’s why we’re teaming up with Bolt, a trailblazer in the transportation and technology industries, to actively work towards a more inclusive and diverse future.

“Bolt understands the importance of gender diversity and is committed to supporting women’s empowerment.

“We’re excited to announce that they will also be providing internships for women in our community!

“Together, we’re opening doors and paving the way for aspiring women in Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa!

“Join us as we create a future where gender equality and diversity thrive. We will continue pushing for the diversity that the tech industry needs.”

Meanwhile, founded in 2013, Bolt offers vehicle for hire, micro-mobility, car-sharing, and food delivery services.

The company provides its services in more than 40 countries in Europe, Africa, Western Asia, and Latin America.

Last year, Bolt raised about $711.40 million led by Sequoia Capital and Fidelity Management & Research Company to help the company further expand its transport and food venture.
