TikTok is experiencing difficulties in attempting to delete a video of the suicide of a middle-aged man.
Tiktok users everywhere have been trying to inform one another to avoid the video.
The initial realization of the video was through Facebook, live-streamed.
Unfortunately, Facebook did not delete the video immediately, even though they were prompted at several intervals.
As the internet and social media would have it, the video has been circulated.
A lot of other social media platforms now have the video to their site.
As of Wednesday morning, the video was still on the TikTok platform.
Although the video wasn’t filmed on TikTok but on Facebook.
Nonetheless, things aren’t looking great for TikTok.
Perhaps, there’s a problem with the TikTok algorithm?
Things aren’t looking too good for TikTok now
You might be aware that TikTok videos play in a repetitive format.
That is, if you’re watching a 10/15 seconds video, it restarts after it’s done.
This feature is what attracted more people to the video.
It is also a contribution to why the video spread so quickly.
Unlike other social media platforms, TikTok relatively forces its videos on its users.
Ridiculous individuals are taking advantage of the situation.
They are maliciously tricking users into watching the video by disguising it as different content.
Some are going as far as creating gifs and stickers of the video.
Others are making it their profile picture.
The head of child safety at a UK children’s charity spoke out about this.
He considered it as malicious.
Tech giants are attempting, by all means, to take down the video.
Whereas, awful people are also putting in work to spread the video even more.
Eva Fog, a digital expert on children, has her views to share as well.
She questioned how possible it was for a video such as that to make it into these top platforms.
However, users are made to believe that these videos go through intense screaming levels.
How so that one such as this was not restricted from these platforms?
“The cleverness of the TikTok algorithm is as much of a weakness as it is a strength.
As we’ve seen many times with videos being taken down for no apparent reason, while others stay up.”
