Digital Transformation Will Improve The Standard Of Living Of Nigerians – NITDA

The Director-General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Abdullahi, has said that digital transformation will go a long way in improving Nigerians’ standard of living.

Abdullahi said this at the official closing ceremony of the Batch – 8 series of capacity building on e-Government Services.

The event was for Directors, Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

He was represented by the Director, e-Government Training Centre, Kubwa Professor Suleiman Mohammed.

Abdullahi remarked that Digital Transformation is relevant in improving the services of Government.

He believed that will go a long way in improving the standard of living of Nigerians.

He noted that public service is the engine room in the implementation of government policies and programmes.

According to him, building the capacity of public officers for efficient delivery of government mandate is a number one priority of any government.

He stated that part of the requirement for the implementation of the National Digital Economy Strategy is to have skilled manpower in public service to be able to deliver on the strategies embedded in the plan.

He said, “What we have done in the past five days is like building a foundation and we are the foundation that we have built for our different MDAs.

Heavy skilled manpower is part of the National Digital economy policy and Strategy.

This knowledge should be applied in your various organisations and ensure you impact it on others.”

National Economy Policy and Strategy

The National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy is to reposition the Nigerian Economy.

Besides, this will help in order to take advantage of the many opportunities that digital technologies provide.

In addition, the Digital Economy Policy and Strategy document is based on the FMoCDE’s 8-pillars for the acceleration of the National Digital Economy for a Digital Nigeria.

The 8 pillars are:

  1. Developmental Regulation;
  2. Digital Literacy & Skills;
  3. Solid Infrastructure;
  4. Service Infrastructure;
  5. Digital Services Development & Promotion;
  6. Soft Infrastructure;
  7. Digital Society & Emerging Technologies; and
  8. Indigenous Content Development & Adoption.
