Headies Award 2022 Nominees (Full List): What You Need To Know

The long-awaited 15th Headies Award 2022 Nominees list is finally out.

Organisers of the award, the Academy, announced the nominations for this year’s awards On May 24, 2022.

Many artistes got nominated for various award categories.

Taking the most nomination is popular musician, Wizkid who got many nominations than others.

Wizkid’s “Essence” and Ayra Starr’s “Bloody Samaritan” got multiple nominations.

Similarly, Don Jazzy, 2Baba, and others got the Humanitarian awards nomination category.

while Ayra Starr and Ruger will knuckle it out with Lojay, Zinoleesky, and BNXN for Next Rated.

Equally, there are new entrants to the Award wrestling.

First timers like Magixx, Portable and many other fast-rising artistes also got the nominations.

What you need to know about Headies Award 2022 Nominees:

First, the 2022 Headies Award will be holding for the first time in the United States of America.

Previously, the award ceremony takes place in Nigeria. But this time, the organisers are taking the show to America.

Similarly, it will interest you to know a little more about the various categories. They are as follows:

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR:

This category seeks to award a person who has had a successful year in the terms of music.

This is regardless of the fact that such a person may not have an album in the year under review.

BEST RECORDING OF THE YEAR:

Nomination for the Best Recording Of The Year is a non-voting category.

It is for an artiste or group of artistes whose recording meets the requirements of the judges.

This involves areas such as excellence, production quality, songwriting quality and rendition styles.

It is non-voting because only the judges decide who meets this criteria and not by voting process.

The song must meet judges’ requirements in areas such as excellence, composition, arrangement and rendition.
