That said, let us look at how to play Wordle game. But before that, let us know what the game is all about.

The Wordle game:

Wordle is a free-to-play web-based puzzle.

It is a daily brainteaser game involving five letters, six attempts, and one word per day for everyone.

What it means is that Wordle requires players to guess a new five-letter word in six or les attempts or guesses every day.

Making the game only one puzzle per day leaves the player wanting more.

It contains gray, green, and yellow square patterns onto which alphabets to form words appear.

Players arrange or guess words by arranging the alphabets on the patterns.

Wordle creator is Josh Wardle, a software engineer. (Note the “a” and “e” as the difference in the creator’s name and the game.”

Meanwhile, Wardle devised the game as a gift for his partner, Palak Shah, who loves word games and crossword puzzles.

According reports,  the engineer and his partner got into the NYT Spelling Bee and daily crossword games in 2020.

However, Wardle who wanted to create a new game that Shah would like, created the Wordle.

How do I get a Wordle?

The Wordle game is web-based. It does not require you downloading any app.

It involves you figuring out what the new word for the day is. Every 24 hours there’s a new word of the day.

You have a set of blank grids to guess what the day’s word is.

Also, you can play Wordle using a mobile or desktop browser.

Just go to www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/.

Meanwhile, since its one game per day, you have to guess the right word before midnight when the word resets itself.

How Wordle game works:

You will have to guess the word in six tries.

After each try, the colour of the grid or tiles will change to show you how close or otherwise you were in guessing the correct word of the day.

If you type in the exact alphabet in any of the grid, the tile or box changes colour to become green.

So, if the word of the day begins with, say, the letter “O,” if you begin your guess with letter “O,” then the box shines Green.

If you type the correct alphabet but in the wrong order or position, the colour shines Yellow.

However, if you type an alphabet that is not at all in the word of the day, the box or grid will shine Grey.

Meanwhile, you can enter a total of six words at a time so as to get a hint on the day’s word.

However, you will only have one chance to put your preferred hint as your chosen word.

How to play Wordle:

First things first. In looking for how to play Wordle and get the right word of the day, your first guess word is the most important.

To have better chances of getting the right word, choose a word with three vowels and five different letters.

For instance, choose “media,” “radio,” “Stare,” “Teary,” or “Marker.”

Others are “First,” “Manic” or “Cheat.” Try “Panic” too.

Also, try to start with wired words, choose different words each day.

These words provide you with a solid set of letters in odd positions to help you get closer to getting the right word of the day.

From there, you can often predict where to place the words should they turn up yellow.

After that, you can then make a wild guess at the word of the day.

Also, just grab a dictionary, close your eyes and flick to a random page.

Then, start with say, YACHT today and try ULCER the next day.

Also, you can look around the room, office, garden for any hint.

Meanwhile, choosing a word that has many vowels as your first guess gives you better chance of guessing the right word of the day.

Once you rule out the various vowels, it narrows the word choices significantly.

So, Just go to www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/ and type in your word and hit “Enter.”

Some people have suggested that you use “Adieu” or start with “Roate.”

A programmer and game designer, Tyler Glaiel, said “roate” is the best possible starting word.

Also, Avoid reusing greys:

There’s a keyboard at the bottom of the Wordle board that shows what letters are green, yellow and gray.

Avoid reusing letters that have come up gray.

Also, you can use letters twice.

When you are running out of letters to try, you can repeat letters.

Words having a letter appear twice have emerged the correct word of the day severally. Example, chill, sissy and ferry.

New York Times Buys Wordle:

In January 2022, Wordle creator, Wardle sold the game to the New York Times.

It has since become part of New York Times’ subscription puzzle service.

“It is important to me that, as Wordle grows, it continues to provide a great experience to everyone,” Wardle said.

“Given this, I am incredibly pleased to announce that I’ve reached an agreement with The New York Times for them to take over running Wordle going forward.”

Implications:

I believe that with these tips, you now know how to play Wordle and get the right word of the day.
